Lighting the Kitchen Stove

The kitchen stove is old and has no ignition button, so its pilots have to be lit by hand. There are two places to light: under the stovetop for the burners, and under the oven for the oven.

Before you start

  • The propane tank outside has to be on first.

You'll need

  • A lighter

Step by step

3 steps
  1. Lift the stovetop and light the two pilots

Take the burner grates off and lift the stovetop. There's a pilot on each side, between the burners. Light both.

  2. Pull out the bottom drawer and light the oven pilot

Pull the drawer under the oven all the way out. Toward the back you'll see where the pilot flame sits. Light it there.

  3. Put everything back

Slide the drawer back in, lower the stovetop, and replace the grates. You're done.
